How to Add Brake Fluid to a 2006 Ford Taurus

Ford Motor Company introduced the Taurus in 1986. The 2006 Ford Taurus was equipped with a 3.0-liter V-6, capable of producing 153-horsepower. A Flex-Fuel version of the 3.0-liter V-6 was available as an optional engine. Low brake fluid on the 2006 Taurus is usually indicative of either a leak or worn brake parts. Repetitive filling of the brake fluid reservoir is not recommended. If your brake fluid is low, you should have your entire brake system inspected by a professional.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 container DOT 3 or higher level brake fluid
  • Raise the hood of the Taurus. Locate the brake fluid reservoir, in the rear of driver's side engine compartment.

  • Remove the lid from the top of the reservoir. Pour brake fluid into the reservoir, until the fluid level is at the "Full" mark on the side of the reservoir.

  • Replace the brake fluid reservoir cap. Make sure the cap it turned clockwise as far as it can go, to ensure a proper seal.
