Notice in the back of the Ford Explorer where the crank normally would fit if you had it with you. You will see a hole that you would slide the crank into.
Slide your giant flat-head screwdriver into the hole. Use the pliers to turn the screwdriver counterclockwise and lower the spare tire. If this does not work, move on to the next step.
Slide under the back of the vehicle so you are looking up at the spare tire. Inspect the area where the wire cable holds the spare tire on the vehicle.
Cut the cable with the wire cutters. The cable can be difficult to cut and may take some time.
