Jetta Dash Removal

You can remove the Volkswagen Jetta's dashboard console own your own, without having to pay a technician to do the job for you. Removing the dash allows you to work on equipment, such as the radio and AC, which would be otherwise be unable to be accessed. You will have to have both a Torx screwdriver and Phillips head screwdriver set in order to remove the screws that hold the dash into place. With the right instruction, you can remove your Jetta's dash in less than ten minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Torx screwdriver set
  • Phillips head screwdriver set
  • 2 flat head screwdrivers
  • Use the Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws underneath the anti-slip mat tray, on top of the dashboard. The anti-slip mat tray is located directly above the stereo console.

  • Use the two flat head screwdrivers to wedge the dash board out of place. This will allow you enough room to get a hold of the dash, so that you can remove it.

  • Lift the dash from the back with your fingers, and carefully pull it upwards. The clips in the front that hold the dash into place will come loose when the dash is lifted towards the roof. Although the dash will be removed, it will have a cable connecting it to the vehicle.

  • Use the Torx screwdriver to remove the four screws surrounding the radio to remove the rest of the dash. You can now access the radio for replacement purposes, or the internal AC control equipment.
