How to Shut Off the Auto Locks on a Ford Taurus

Ford Taurus vehicles come equipped with the auto-lock feature which automatically locks the car doors when all of the doors are closed or when the vehicle travels faster than 12 miles per hour. Having the auto-lock feature enabled may not always be desirable because of the risk of accidentally locking your car keys in the car. If you want to disable your Ford Taurus auto-lock feature, you may do so through your dashboard instrument cluster.

  • Turn your vehicle's ignition to the "On" position. Remain parked through this process.

  • Press the "Setup" button on your dashboard until you see the "Autolock" option appear. You may have to press the button between 4 and 6 times.

  • Press the "Reset" button located next to the "Setup" button on your dashboard until the auto-lock feature displays the "Off" status. Your auto-lock feature is now disabled.

  • Turn your vehicle's ignition to the "Off" position. Exit your vehicle and close all of the doors. Your vehicle's doors will not automatically lock.
