How to Replace a Headlight on a 2007 Volkswagen

Volkswagen makes quality vehicles at a fairly reasonable price, therefore they have become a budget choice for car buyers throughout the world. In order to keep a Volkswagen, or any other automobile in proper working order, you need to get regular tune ups, oil changes and inspections. These expenses can add up quickly. Any time you can do a basic car repair on your own, you should, such as replacing a burned out headlight bulb.

  • Park your 2007 model Volkswagen on a flat, level surface and turn off the ignition. Pull up on the hood-release latch beneath the dash. Go to the front of the hood and grab the release lever and open the hood.

  • Locate the small knob just below the bolts that mount the fender behind the headlight assembly. Push the knob to free the headlight assembly from the car and then push the whole assembly out to access the interior.

  • Unplug the electrical connector cable that runs from the Volkswagen's electrical system to the headlight assembly. Locate the small release tab on the housing cover and depress it to remove the cover and access the bulb.

  • Turn the burned out bulb to the left to release it. Discard the old bulb and insert a new one, turning it to the right to lock it in place.

  • Snap the plastic cover back in place, connect the electrical system and push the headlight assembly back into place. Lock it in place by pushing in the knob.
