How to Change the Keyless Entry Code on an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer

The Eddie Bauer company -- namesake of the outdoorsman who patented the first quilted down jacket -- was a name synonymous with rugged outdoor adventure. It was fitting that the Eddie Bauer name would be linked with Ford trucks. As a trim level on the Ford Explorer from 1991 to 2010, the Eddie Bauer package included luxury features such as heated seats and leather upholstery that were not standard equipment on the base model.

  • Enter the factory-supplied code into the keypad on the driver’s door. The factory code was imprinted on the wallet card located in your glove compartment.

  • Press the "1-2" button on the keypad within five seconds to enter the programming mode.

  • Enter any five-digit number on the keypad. Press each number within five seconds of each other or the programming mode will time out.

  • Press the "1-2," "3-4" or "5-6" button to indicate which of the three separate personal codes you wish to use.

  • Wait for the doors to lock and then unlock, which indicates your new code has been accepted and the programming mode has ended.
