How to Reset the Maintenance Indicator on a 1999 Honda CR-V

The maintenance-required indicator on the 1999 Honda CR-V comes on when the car is nearing 7,500 miles since the last scheduled maintenance. Once the 7,500 miles have been reached, the indicator turns red and stays that way until you reset it. Resetting the indicator after performing scheduled maintenance signals the system to again start tracking when the next service is due. Honda dealers will reset the light if they do the maintenance. You can reset it yourself otherwise.

  • Turn the ignition switch off.

  • Hold down the trip odometer knob.

  • Turn the ignition switch on.

  • Turn off the ignition when the maintenance indicator flashes and then turns off.

  • Release the trip odometer knob.
