The headlights on a 1998 Chevy Tahoe need to be adjusted when the headlight-housing assemblies are replaced and the new housings do not come pre-adjusted from the manufacturer. The housing assembly must be adjusted to make sure that the beam pattern is evenly distributed when the headlights are on. If the beam pattern is not evenly distributed, your night-time driving visibility can be severely reduced.
Park your Chevy Tahoe 25 feet away from a closed garage door.
Turn on the headlights.
Open the hood and look between at the edge of the plastic piece that is the top of the grille. You will see two bolts. These are the adjustment bolts.
Turn the adjustment bolts on each headlight housing until the beam pattern on both headlights overlaps by 50 percent and the center of the headlight beam sits at the bottom of the garage door where the door meets the ground.
