It doesn't matter if you have a cargo or passenger van, wood floors can completely alter the look of a van and reduce the wear and tear on floor. Wood flooring can be varnished or painted to match the interior of the vehicle. Wood planks or plywood can be used in vans as flooring and are easily changed out when they do wear down.
Place the van in park and activate the emergency brake. Put the wood blocks in front of the front tires to keep the van from rolling. Position the jack in front of the back tires and raise the van up enough for you to easily slide under the van.
Remove any seats or racks that may be bolted to the floor.
Spread out the cardboard or paper over the floor, to make a template of the floor. Cut around the wheel wells and any other areas that interfere with the floor. If the spare tire or tire tools are stored under the floor, cut around the area to make sure there is easy access to the tools or tire. Tape the paper or cardboard in place.
Lie under van and look for areas in the floor where screws can be placed without interfering with the wiring, gas tank or frame. Drill holes close to the back of the van, in the middle and at the front, for the planks or plywood to attach to the van. Drill the holes from the bottom up, through the cardboard or paper. If you are using planks, measure the width and length of the planks and drill two holes per plank, one at the top and the other at the bottom. This will be a guide on the wood so that no damage is done to the van.
Lower the van and remove the jacks.
Remove the paper or cardboard and use it as a template to cut your wood or plywood. Drill holes through the plywood or planks that match the holes in the template.
Place the plywood or wood planks into the van and screw the wood down, placing one screw in each pre-drilled hole.
Varnish or paint the wood floor. After the floor has dried, replace all the seats or items that were removed earlier.
