Raise the hood of your 2002 Silverado. Locate the battery on the driver's side of the engine compartment in the very front.
Remove the battery cables with a wrench. Start with the negative battery cable first, then remove the positive battery cable.
Locate the bolt securing the retaining strap. The bolt is at the base of the battery on the side. Remove the bolt with a socket and ratchet. Set the bolt aside in a secure location and remove the retaining strap from the battery.
Lift the battery out of the engine compartment.
