The valve cover gasket on a Honda is the seal that surrounds the inner edge of the valve cover. The valve cover is the metal plate that covers the valves. Every Honda vehicle has valves and valve covers, but the location of the valve cover will vary from model to model. The bolts that secure the valve cover to the engine will need to be torqued to the specifications for that specific Honda model once the valve cover has been replaced. This is not a difficult job to complete, but you will need to have a complete knowledge of the top end of the Honda engine.
Park the Honda on a flat level surface and open the hood. Allow the engine to completely cool off before you proceed with this project.
Remove the valve cover from the engine, using the ratchet set. Place the bolts in a clean, dry place, until you are done with this project. Pull the valve cover off the engine.
Remove the old valve cover gasket from around the inner edge of the valve cover using the flat-head screwdriver and the razor blade. Place the new valve cover gasket around the inner edge of the valve cover with the sticky side down.
Rub gasket lubrication around the new valve cover gasket and replace the valve cover to the engine in the same position that it was when you removed it from the engine.
Replace the bolts to the valve cover and torque the bolts to the specifications for your specific Honda model. Close the hood.
