How to Install Fog Lights on a Dodge Ram

The fog lights on your Dodge Ram may need to be replaced if the light has burned out. Installing new fog lights should only take 15 minutes. Replacement lights can be purchased from a Chrysler dealership or most auto parts stores. The part number for the light is stamped on the base of the light. You'll need this number to get the correct sized bulb for your Ram.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver
  • New fog light
  • Fog light assembly (if needed)
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable. Loosen the nut on the negative clamp and lift the cable off the battery terminal.

  • Remove the screws on the back of the fog light assembly.

  • Slide the fog light housing forward and disconnect the electrical plug from the back of the fog light ballast.

  • Pull the fog light out all the way and replace the housing if needed.

  • Remove the old fog light by pushing in on the light and turning it counterclockwise. Then, pull it straight out of the housing.

  • Install the new fog light. Installation is the reverse of removal.
