How to Replace Chevy Venture Turn Signal Light

The Chevy Venture has a separate turn signal casing (front), unlike most other vehicles. This makes replacing the turn signal bulb a bit easier, because you do not have to remove the entire headlamp assembly. You won't need any tools to replace the front turn signal lamp; however, you'll need a screwdriver to replace the rear turn signal. Only use the factory-recommended bulb numbers; other bulbs are not compatible, and could cause shorts or other problems.

Things You'll Need

  • Bulb number 4157 NAK (front turn signal)
  • Bulb number 3156 (rear turn signal)
  • Phillips screwdriver

Front Turn Signal

  • Wear gloves and open your hood. Always wear gloves when installing new automotive bulbs; the oil on your skin can cause premature failure.

  • Locate the wing nut on the turn signal casing. The casing is separate from the headlight, but mounted right next to it. Turn the wing nut with your hand to remove it.

  • Pull the turn signal casing straight out to access the rear. Squeeze the tab on the bulb socket and turn it counterclockwise to pull it out.

  • Pull out the old bulb, then insert the new bulb in the socket. Place the socket back in the casing; turn it clockwise until it locks.

  • Replace the signal casing. Insert the casing, lining up the tabs with the fender and the headlight. Make sure it's level, and then replace the wing nut.

Rear Turn Signal

  • Open your rear lift-gate to access the taillight assembly. Remove the two Phillips screws mounting the assembly, and then pull it out.

  • Remove the plastic bulb strip. Depress the clips and lift to pull it off. On the inside of the strip, you'll see all four bulbs attached. The second bulb from the bottom is your turn signal bulb. Pull it from the socket and insert a new bulb.

  • Snap the plastic bulb strip back on. Remount the taillight assembly. You'll need to hold it in place while tightening the screws.
