How to Replace the Front Turn Signal Bulb on a 2005 Chevy Malibu

The front turn signal bulb in your 2005 Chevy Malibu is installed in the same housing as your headlights. If your turn signal bulb has burned out, you need to replace it immediately. Drivers in front of you or beside you will not be able to tell which direction you are turning if your turn signal is out.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement bulb 3157LL
  • Socket wrench
  • Turn the engine off and pop the hood.

  • Locate the two bolts above the headlamp display that has the bad turn signal bulb. Remove the two bolts with a standard socket wrench.

  • Pull the assembly forward to remove it from the vehicle. Locate the turn signal bulb module on the rear of the headlamp assembly. The turn signal module is closest to the outside edge of the vehicle.

  • Twist the protective cover to remove it from the assembly. Unclip the wiring harness from the turn signal module.

  • Twist the turn signal module counterclockwise to release it, and then pull it straight out.

  • Pull the bulb straight out to remove it from the module. Discard the old bulb. Insert the new bulb into the module.

  • Insert the module back into the headlamp assembly and turn it clockwise to lock it. Replace the protective cover and insert the headlamp assembly back into its mount. Replace and tighten the two bolts.
