How to Disable the DRL on a 2010 Honda Accord EXL

You'll hear people cite safety concerns about disabling daytime running lights. According a report from the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration, however, DRLs don't have an impact on accident prevention statistics, and may even have an unintended opposite effect in some situations. Without a federal mandate requiring DRLs, you can decide for yourself whether to disable the system on your 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour EX-L.

Pull the Fuse

  • The 7.5A fuse in slot No. 15 of the driver-side interior fuse panel provides power to the DRL system. Pull the fuse to disable the lights. Note, however, that the DRL warning light on the dash will remain illuminated. To disable the DRL system and turn off the warning lamp, you'd have to use a scan tool to change the settings in the powertrain control module's programming. The service department at a Honda dealership may do that for you or they may decline, citing safety concerns.
