How to Reset the Maintenance Required Light on the 2002 Honda Accord

Many 2002 Honda Accord models are equipped with a maintenance reminder system that alerts the driver when it is time for scheduled maintenance. The system tracks mileage and illuminates a maintenance reminder light at regular intervals. When maintenance is performed, such as an engine oil and filter change, the maintenance light should be reset so the system can accurately track when to request the next service. Honda dealers will reset the light if they perform the maintenance. Otherwise, it can be reset by the owner.

  • Insert the key into the ignition.

  • Press and hold the trip odometer reset button.

  • Turn the ignition switch to the "II" position. Do not start the engine.

  • Release the trip odometer reset button after about 15 seconds when the maintenance required light resets.
