Isuzu Rodeo Heater Core Problems

The Isuzu Rodeo is a pickup truck first manufactured by Isuzu in 1988. It is a durable, heavy-duty truck, but it still can experience problems with its heater core, or radiator-type device that uses a heat exchanger to heat the vehicle interior.

Cold Air

  • If the Isuzu Rodeo blows cold air while the heat is on, a bad heater water control valve, which controls how much heated coolant circulates through the heater core, may be to blame. Touch the heater core hoses located at the Rodeo firewall. If one hose feels warm while the others feel cold, replace the heater water control valve.

Fogging Windshield

  • A failed Isuzu Rodeo heater core can cause moisture to accumulate on the inside of your windshield or windows. Inspect the Isuzu Rodeo heater core hoses for signs of leakage and replace them as needed. If the heater core unit is cracked, replace it.

No Heat

  • If the Isuzu Rodeo heater core fails to function, take off the radiator cap after the engine cools off and check the antifreeze level. Reduced antifreeze in the radiator leads to decreased coolant flow in the heater core, resulting in little to no heat flow in the cabin. Top off the antifreeze in the radiator.
