How to Do a Teflon Coating on a Car

A Teflon coating on a car will protect the car's painted surface. It helps guard against scratches and other damages a car can undergo being outside all the time. The Teflon coating is popular on cars made overseas and helps keep the car clean, so less maintenance is required. A good teflon coat will leave your car with a new shine and make it look great no matter what the weather conditions are outside. The life of a Teflon coating is two to three years.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Soap
  • Sponge
  • Rag
  • Roller
  • Teflon wax
  • Clean the car thoroughly with soap and water to remove any dirt and debris that is located on the car. Scrub down every square inch so the car is smooth and clean when the Teflon coating is applied.

  • Dry the car with a clean rag in circular motions so there are not any streaks left when the Teflon coating is added.

  • Apply a little bit of Teflon wax onto the car and spread it out with the roller. Start with the hood and spread the wax around the hood. Move to the sides of the car and begin spreading the coating around the entire surface of the car. Move in smooth "W" shaped motions with the roller to avoid streaks and cover the entire surface of the car.

  • Move on to the other side and then do the bumper of the car in the same manner. Continue until it has been completely covered with the wax. Inspect the car to make sure it is evenly spread out and uniform all the way across.
