Ignition Key Won't Turn in a Volvo S60

The Volvo S60 is a compact sedan that began production in 2000. An ignition key is used to operate and start the car. The key can be turned to two positions: Position one turns the power on in the car, and position two starts the engine. If the car's steering wheel is locked, the ignition key fails to turn to the power or start engine positions. Use a little force on the steering wheel to release the wheel lock and turn on your Volvo S60.

  • Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch.

  • Turn the steering wheel from left to right.

  • Start the car by turning the key from position one (the park position) to the drive position.
