Isuzu Bumper Replacement

Changing out the bumper on your Isuzu is not very time consuming to do. The only issue you will find with removing the bumper is the size of the bumper. You may require assistance, as the bumper is long and can be heavy when you have one free hand to hold it in place as you unbolt it from the frame. The biggest time saver in this project is to thoroughly inspect the work ahead of you before removing any components off of your vehicle.

Inspecting the Isuzu

  • Inspect the bumper of the Isuzu. There should be four to eight bolts holding the bumper in place. You will need to inspect where the bumper is mounted and what size socket you will need. See if there are any wires running through the bumper such as wires for fog lights. These wires will need to be isolated. You do not want any interference when removing the bumper.

Removing the Bumper

  • Ensure any accessories are removed before unbolting the bumper.Remove any body parts that are overlapping the bumper or attached to the bumper. You may have to unbolt a spoiler or any component that will make it more difficult to get to the bumper. Remove the bumper by removing the bolts with your socket wrench, holding the bumper in place with your spare hand. You may want to loosen all the bolts and drop one side to the ground if possible. Be sure to save the bolts, as you may need them for the new bumper.

Installing the Bumper

  • Match the new bumper up to where the old one came off. You will need to ensure that the bumper is going to match up with the bolt pattern of the old bumper. You may require assistance, as you will want someone to hold the bumper as you bolt the it in place. Ensure when installing the new bumper that the washers on the bolts are in the same position as they were on the old bumper. Be sure to attach your fog lights if applicable. Once the bumper is in place you, can have it painted to match the paint scheme on the Isuzu if it is not already painted.
