How to Reset the Mileage After an Oil Change on My 2007 Ford F-150

The 2007 Ford F-150 oil change reminder light is mileage and time sensitive. It is triggered to set off and remind the driver to have the oil changed every 7,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. Changing oil every three months is no longer necessary for newer vehicles that use premium or synthetic oils. There are two different systems for resetting the light in the 2007 Ford F-150. Depending on which version the truck has, the procedure is different.

Three-Button Information Center System

  • Turn the ignition key to the accessory power position.

  • Press and then release the "Set-up" button on the three-button information center on the dashboard. Release the button to display "OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW" on the display screen of the information center.

  • Press the "Reset" button on the information center to reset the engine oil life to percent. The "100% OIL LIFE" will be displayed on the display screen, and the mileage will reset to approximately 7,500 miles or 12 months.

Single Odometer Button

  • Turn the ignition key to the accessory power position.

  • Push in the odometer reset button and then release it to display ""OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW" on the instrument panel near the odometer reading.

  • Push the odometer reset button again and hold it in for at least two seconds to set the oil's life to 100 percent (7,500 miles or 12 months).
