How to Reset the Change Oil Light on a 2008 Toyota Tundra

Oil change reminder indicators have been present on virtually every automobile for a number of years. They remind the owner or operator that an oil change service is needed soon. Oil changes are recommended by car manufacturers at regular intervals, and oil change reminder indicators are automatically tripped once the car has been driven a specific number of miles since the indicator was last reset. This service reminder indicator light should be reset after every oil change. On the 2008 Toyota Tundra, it can be reset from within the cabin.

  • Set the odometer display on the dash to "Trip A" by pushing the "Trip Reset" button once. The "Trip Reset" button is located at the bottom right of the speedometer window in the dashboard.

  • Turn the ignition off.

  • With your left hand, push the "Trip Reset" button.

  • With the "Trip Reset" button pushed down, turn the ignition key to the "ACC On" position.

  • Continue holding the "Trip Reset" button down until the odometer reading displays "000000" for one second.

  • The oil change reminder indicator should be reset.
