How to Reset the Oil Service on a BMW 320D

The BMW 320D is equipped with a maintenance tracking system that displays reminder lights on the control panel when the car needs regular service. When the system determines it is time for an oil change, it displays the oil service indicator. Once the oil change is performed, the system must be reset in order for the computer to accurately track when the next service should take place. Many mechanics will reset the indicator when they change the oil. If not, you can reset it yourself.

  • Turn the ignition switch to "OFF."

  • Press and hold the trip odometer reset button on the instrument panel.

  • Turn the ignition switch to the first position past "OFF."

  • Release the trip odometer reset button when "OIL SERVICE RESET" appears on the display.

  • Press and hold the trip odometer reset button until "RESET" flashes on and off.

  • Press and release the trip odometer reset button once. "END SIA" appears in the display to confirm the reset.
