How to Reset the Oil Indicator on a 2006 Honda

Honda vehicles produced in 2006 have an oil life tracking system that alerts the driver when it is time for an oil change. The oil indicator must be reset after an oil change if the tracking system is to work properly. The display shows an oil life reading with a percentage to indicate how soon service is needed. If you have the oil changed at a Honda dealer, they will usually reset the indicator as part of the service. If they do not reset it, or if you change your own oil, you can manually reset the indicator.

  • Insert the key. Turn the ignition to "ON".

  • Press and release the "Select/Reset" button until the oil life indicator is displayed.

  • Press and hold the "Select/Reset" button for about ten seconds until the oil life reading flashes on and off.

  • Press and hold the "Select/Reset" button until the oil life display resets to "100". Turn the ignition to "OFF".
