How to Change the Fluids in a Toyota Sequoia

Most Toyota Sequoia owners want their SUV to last as long as possible. Help facilitate this by keeping your fluids fresh so they do not become contaminated and damage the vulnerable parts they are meant to protect. The two fluids that Toyota recommends changing regularly are the engine oil and the transmission oil. The engine oil should be changed every 3,000 miles and the transmission oil every 30,000 miles.

Things You'll Need

  • Place a drain pan underneath the drain plug of the transmission pan. The transmission pan is on the underside of the car near the back.

  • Open the drain plug using the socket wrench to turn it counter-clockwise until it comes out. Then replace the crush washer on the drain plug with a new one.

  • Remove the transmission oil dipstick from the engine and wait for all of the fluid to drain out.

  • Bolt the drain plug and the new crush washer back into place using your socket wrench.
