The 2009 Honda Civic is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system, or TPMS, that uses computerized sensors to track the air pressure in the tires. When the sensors detect a drop in tire pressure below the recommended level, a warning light displays on the instrument panel. Once the air pressure in the tires has been corrected, the TPMS system may need to be reset so it can accurately track the tire conditions.
Park your 2009 Honda Civic on a level surface.
Inflate all four tires to the appropriate pressure. Use the tire pressure gauge to verify the pressure. The appropriate pressure for each tire is printed on the sidewall of the tire.
Drive the Civic at a speed greater than 20 mph for at least 10 minutes. This gives the computer sufficient time and data to read the sensors on each tire and determine if the pressure is sufficient. The TPMS light turns off after the reset procedure is complete.
