How to Stow the Spare Tire in a 2007 Ford Focus

The 2007 Ford Focus comes with a spare tire for temporary use, often referred to as a "donut." These small tires are easy to store in your vehicle and are suitable for short-term use during an emergency. Once you've replaced the temporary spare tire with a new permanent tire, you'll need to stow the spare tire within your cargo compartment, as it was before. The process is the same for all Ford Focus models, including the sedan and hatchback.

Things You'll Need

  • Tire gauge
  • Air compressor
  • Gloves
  • Test the spare tire's inflation level before stowing it. Ford recommends inflating the spare to 60psi. Use a tire gauge to test the inflation level, and add air with a compressor, if necessary.

  • Open the trunk. Grasp the edge of the cargo liner and lift it out of the vehicle to access the spare tire storage.

  • Lay the spare tire in the storage compartment. Feed the compartment's center pole through the spare tire's center hole.

  • Attach the tie-down bolt to the pole. Twist it clockwise with your hand to secure the spare tire.

  • Replace the cargo liner and close the trunk.
