With its debut in 1964, the Ford Mustang brought to life the pony car segment. The legendary muscle car rocked the industry almost immediately, and arguably forced General Motors' hand in releasing its own pony cars -- the Pontiac Firebird and Chevy Camaro -- in 1967. In 2003, the Mustang had three versions of its 4.6-liter, V-8 engine, ranging from the 16-valve variant with 260 horsepower to the 32-valve version with 390 horsepower.
The 4.6-liter V-8 in the 2003 Mustang has a 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order. From the front, passenger side of the engine and moving clockwise around the engine, the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4-8-7-6-5.
