Mitsubishi 2.4 Liter Timing Specifications

The Mitsubishi Galant features a 2.4 liter engine. The Mitsubishi 2.4 liter engine is also known as the World Gas Engine because Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and Hyundai built it together. The Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance, based in Michigan, consists of the three car manufacturers.

Timing Specs

  • The engine had a piston firing order of 1-3-4-2. The ignition has a timing of 5 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) with the jumper wire connected between the ignition timing adjustment connector and the ground. The idle speed should be set at 750 rpm with the transmission in neutral, emergency brake engaged and wheels turned clockwise. The spark plugs have a gap of 0.044 thousandths of an inch.

Cylinder Head Torque Specs

  • The bolts connecting the camshaft position sensor to the cylinder head have 6.5 foot-pounds of torque and the bolts connecting the engine temperature sensor to the cylinder head have 22 foot-pounds of torque. The 0.394 inch bolts connecting the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head have 22 foot-pounds of torque, while the 0.315 inch bolts had 20 foot-pounds of torque. The nuts and bolts connecting the intake manifold to the cylinder head have 14 foot-pounds of torque and the bolts connecting the thermostat housing to the cylinder head have 9.08 foot-pounds of torque. The bolts connecting the valve cover to the cylinder head have 2.5 foot-pounds of torque. The bolts connecting the cylinder head to the engine block have five steps of torque. The first step has 58 foot-pounds of torque, the second step is to loosen the bolts, the third step has 15 foot-pounds of torque, and the fourth and fifth steps have 90 degrees of torque.
