How to Improve Diesel Engine Performance

Upgrading your diesel to provide more horsepower does not have to be costly. Performance can improve greatly if you change a few parts. Modify components by changing out intake assemblies or the exhaust system, providing more power when you need it. The most important part is keeping your vehicle maintained and addressing issues as they occur.

  • Change all filters regularly. Keeping the filters changed at all service intervals will ensure optimum performance. You can also use high-performance filters to ensure your fluids and air are being filtered by a higher-quality paper, providing a less restricted flow.

  • Replace your stock computer with a high-performance computer. This will unleash more power in your motor. The more horsepower you have, the less fuel it will take to push your diesel, especially when towing a heavy load or navigating tricky terrain.

  • Replace and upgrade components to enhance performance. Upgrading your air intake will improve air flow and prevent debris from entering in to your motor. Replacing your injectors with performance injectors will also improve the fuel flow into the motor.

  • Upgrade your exhaust system to allow more exhaust to escape through the pipes. Installing a high-performance exhaust system will boost your horsepower and increase your mileage.
