If your tires rub on the inside of your car's fenders due to an aggressive wheel offset and tire combination, Eastwood has a slick new tool to fix your problem without resorting to a baseball bat or rubber mallet.

Eastwood's easy-to-use, hand-held, fender-forming tool expands a fender's metal lip to prevent damage caused by tight tire-to-fender clearances. A clear advantage the Eastwood Fender Finisher has over conventional rollers is the ability to cleanly modify the fenders without altering their original shape, or causing unwanted bulging of the fender arches-an important feature when race rules permit fender rolling, but not flaring. Designed to work like an oversized pair of pliers, the Fender Finisher comes with molded hand grips, a durable powdercoated finish, and two extra replaceable rubber pads to prevent paint scratching.

Reviewing the Fender Finisher couldn't come at a better time, as our project Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart was experiencing severe rear tire rub from aggressive wheel fitment. Armed with a heat gun, we gently softened the paint on the outside of the fenders before attempting to fold the metal lip. After 30 minutes of fist-clenching squeezes, the once problematic fender took proper shape, and we managed to neatly fold the double-layered lip, creating an additional five millimeters of clearance.

A few words of caution: Rolling/finishing fenders requires plenty of time and finesse to perfect. You only have one opportunity to ensure your masterpiece comes out clean, so make absolutely sure you can get it right the first time around. Otherwise, enlist the services of a professional.
