The actron Super AutoScanner is more than a mere code reader, it's a true scan tool that reads and erases OBD-I and OBD-II codes. The Super AutoScanner not only spits out the code, but also displays the root cause of the error code, eliminating the need for the burdensome code book.
So instead of looking up a P0305 code in a sea of hundreds of codes, the scanner shows "Misfire 5 Cylinder" on its four-line LED screen. The unit can be configured to display, record and playback live data for quick, correct diagnosis and it also detects and displays pending codes, I/M monitors and M/L status on screen.
The Super AutoScanner can be purchased for OBD-II and OBD-I vehicles or for only OBD-II vehicles; the difference lies in the included cables. The full-tilt kit includes an adaptor cable for 1996-to-2003 OBD-II-compliant vehicles and three cables to access popular OBD-I-equipped vehicles, an 8-foot extender cable so you can work outside the vehicle and a 12-volt power adaptor.
We were impressed by the user-friendly Super AutoScanner and its cut-to-the-chase, targeted information concerning what sensor was causing the "check engine" light to illuminate. All we did was plug in the unit and turn it on and, as the accompanying photos illustrate, the Super AutoScanner prompts did the rest in a clear and concise manner.
