Honda D Series Methanol Injection Kit - Super Street Magazine

When last we left off, Rywire had completed the wiring and electronics for Bisimoto's Wagovan. He incorporated the MSD 2351 Programmable Fuel Pump booster, AEM water/methanol kit and AEM V2 DataStream serial gauge. The Fuel Pump Booster will increase the voltage to the aftermarket fuel pump in proportion to manifold boost pressure in order to maintain the proper fuel delivery.

The amount of increase is adjustable from a range of an additional 1.5 -22 volts up to 30psi which can all be set and adjusted from a PC with MSD's easy to use Windows based software. AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kits reduce air inlet temperatures, which allow users to increase boost pressure (and advance timing on forced induction gas applications) to create more power by utilizing the cooling effects of the methanol+ water mixture. Cooler/denser air = more power!

Think of all the benefits of leaded race fuel, without the added continuous expense. AEM's new recirculation-style water/methanol pump offers improved performance, reliability and a much smoother, quieter operation when compared to older switched-style pumps. With the use of a new internal bypass design, AEM's upgraded pump eliminates erratic on and off fluid pulsing and ensures consistent fluid delivery for optimum performance. With durability and reliability in mind, AEM has designed the pump with a Santoprene diaphragm and EPDM seals to withstand the harshest of alcohol mixes.

The 1 gallon mixture tank was conveniently installed in the rear compartment area, and the recirculation-style pump was mounted in the spare tire tub. Speaking of fuels, the T1/Injector dynamics 1000cc injectors will feed the hungry D16Z6.

T1 1000 cc injectors do not require a peak and hold box, or injector drivers and have been tested to over 100psi of fuel pressure. AEM's Serial Gauge plugs into the programmable EMS and has the ability to read 19 channels simultaneously to provide reference for all outputs, including boost, AFR, EGT, H2O, IAT, knock, volts, RPM, vehicle speed and more! Since it can read all channels at once, AEM's Serial Gauge is mounted in the shifter console of the Bisimoto Engineering Wagon, eliminating the need to buy a cluster of gauges. With Rywires expertise, the show-quality wiring harness will outlast the chassis, and ensure perfect operation of all electronic components.

Keeping the unleaded fuel clean will be a simple task for the Kinsler Monster Mesh Series filter. Kinsler filters have 'Monstrous' amount of element surface area, the "largest" per square inch of filtering surface versus the housing size. Surface area is the key to a 'great' filter - a filter does you no good if a small amount of containment "clogs" it up. Kinsler injection uses one of the highest quality filter media available; the same quality of filtration that the Honda I.R.L. teams use. The unit is sealed to radiused end cap by captive o-ring, with a spiral welded anti-crush support tube, and billet aluminum body and end caps, to satisfy the most discriminating enthusiast. They are available in blue anodized or "TRUE" Hard-Anodized for methanol, ethanol, or E85, and can withstand 400 PSI operating pressures!

A custom Griffin dual pass radiator with -16 AN fittings, and a Buddy Club type A radiator cap are now charged with the duty of keeping coolant temperatures in check. For superb noise attenuation, an ultra-light 3.5 inch Burns Stainless 2-stage muffler was employed. This revolutionary TIG-welded design has a floating core allowing for easier rebuilds using replaceable high temperature packing. The mesh outlet looks cool, and provides significant noise reduction without inhibiting flow. Imagine the look on the faces of your friends if you rolled up with what looks like a closed off muffler... but with sick power, optimum flow and a lovely deep tone!
