The Long Awaited NSX Update Or Not - Our Garage - Super Street Magazine

I gave you a taste of what my NSX looks like in last month's issue of Super Street, but it didn't get that way by itself. As I mentioned about a thousand times before, the stock green paint had to go. But there's more than just that. Pop-up headlights are a classic, but very dated look, considering it's 2007. The solution was simple; well, for me at least. Acura left the NSX body style alone since its creation, and fortunately for me, all I had to do was drop some coin for the '02-up flush headlights (HID and all) from John Yoshinaga over at American Honda.

But they don't just bolt on. If they fit perfectly, where would the fun be in that? It was time to hit up Down Force in Orange, CA for their '02-up update kit, complete with a fiberglass bumper, lip, rear valence, side skirts, and carbon fiber R hood. Next came the hardest part-choosing a color, and everyone knows how much of a pain that is. I narrowed it down between Championship White, Bright White or Seal Gray Metallic from BASF. I went with the third choice, even though white is so right. But Grumpy Smurf a.k.a. Yamz would forever come into my office and make yawning noises if I went with white. Enlisted to install the Down Force update and spray the BASF paint was my favorite Filipino, PJ Bonifacio, and his painter Hector. Since it was a full color change, PJ and his crew meticulously stripped it down and masked everything for me (I was too lazy to do it myself). Aside from deep in the engine bay, there were no traces of the stock green anymore. After a few buffing and color sanding sessions, it's safe to say that the conversion and paint came out superb. Next stop is Star Shield Armor so they can wrap and protect this blingy paintjob.
