RS4/RS6

Continuing our coverage of this crazy 700hp RS6 engine swap into a RS4, HT-Motorsport has been moving the project along quickly. The equal-length, phase-matched exhaust runners, for example, were designed in 3D CAD to ensure quick spooling for the T4 turbos.  In fact, Borg Warner supplied development hot-side turbo housings for test fitting to help confirm the design of the downpipes and turbo manifolds.

After they finish the fabrication of the downpipes and manifolds, the new parts will go through a heat treatment to remove residual stress during the welding process before ceramic coating.

The sequential shifter on the Audi 01E manual transmission required significant tunnel work, including modification of the heater housing. With shifter itself is being fabricated to look stock but will also have a quick-change feature to allow it to be swapped out for a longer version for races.

10sec S4 VR6

Rob Williams has been working with O2 Induction (o2induction.com) since 2/11 to build an 10sec Audi S4 with VR6 swap to compete against the import and hot rod scene in Milwaukee, WI.

While the Nogaro blue S4 was being repainted Grigio Telesto gray by Mel Harris, O2 started on the engine. They lowered the compression to 9:1 with 82mm forged JE pistons and fitted forged Euro Spec H-beam rods, ARP rod bolts and head studs plus an O2 stage-three head.

Jon Erickson has fabricated many parts, including a stage-three intake manifold with equal-length velocity stacks that connect to an 80mm Nissan Q45 throttle body. Jon has also modified the valve cover for 034 DIS coils.

A fabricated turbo manifold mounts two twin-scroll Borg Warner S400SX3 turbos with twin 38mm TiAL billet wastegates. O2 Induction also created a 500.5ci chargecooler.

With the recently installed 4" turbo-back exhaust and radiator support, they’re now planning to install 034 Motorsport’s stage IIc standalone ECU and VR6 harness.

With the engine now bolted to an Audi 01E transmission on solid O2 mounts, look out for another update on this boosted build.

Mk6 GTI

Shawn Lichtfuss has sold the Red Baron (et 01/11)! With the birth of his first son he took a year away from the Dub scene. However, in April he picked up a new Mk6 GTI and began the project off with a Recaro baby seat.

With the help of AWE, they installed a cat-back exhaust, 200-cell downpipe, CCB intake, S3 intercooler and TOP. Plus, he has added a BSH catch-can, boost tap and torque mounts as well as GIAC software.

One of the bigger transformations was a Brembo big-brake kit with four-piston calipers and 355mm rotors. On the rear he fitted Adams rotors, Bosch pads and Neuspeed stainless lines.

The suspension was also changed for Koni adjustable shocks, H&R springs and sway bars. The wheels were swapped for 18x8" BBS CH with 225/40 R18 ContiSportContact3 and mounted with 12.5mm spacers.

Next, Shawn is hoping to shave and color-match the intake manifold. He’s also designing a CF engine cover, adding a Weichers CF strut bar and R line door sills. The exterior will get a badgeless grille and Osir notchless hood. The plan is to have everything ready for Waterfest and H20i.
