With limited power modification available for our Mk6 Jetta 2.0-liter, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Neuspeed’s Mk4 Power Pulley kit would work. The Power Pulley’s lightweight design combined with a 20% reduction in size adds 5-7hp. Although low in hp, it does have a more of a "seat off your pants" feeling when we test-drove the new set-up.

The upgrade increases throttle response and had the revs kicking up faster. From 3,000rpm the Jetta pulled a little quicker in 1st and 2nd. Addition noticing an increase in the climb from 60-80mph. Overall the upgrade was easy to install and did help inspire peppiness to the boring sedan.

Installing the kit was simple and can be done in under an hour with hand tools. To start we put the Jetta on the lift and removed the lower trim’s 8 phillip screws. Then the entire wheel well trim, two screws from the lower right side Z Bracket, three screws at the front of the wheel well, two by the strut and two at the rear to gain access to the pulleys.

Using a 10mm 12 point driver (8mm hex will work as well) to loosen the power steering pulley’s four bolts. Next use a 6mm hex to loosen the crank pulley. Avoid using an L-shaped allen because the bolts tend to strip easily.

Then remove both the crank pulley and power steering pulley. Our crankshaft pulley weighted 3 lbs 13.4 ounces compared to Neuspeed's 8.7 ounce crankshaft pulley.

Orientate the new pulleys and bolt them back into place.

Plug Wires
Neuspeed also had a set of new 8mm spark plug wires available. While its easy to get excited and pull the old wires off all at once and forget which ones go to what plug. We install each one at a time going from shortest to longest.
