Fuel Filter Change
You definitely don't want water in a diesel fuel system. Smart owners stay on top of things by changing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles. Did you know that a fuel pump can cost more than $1,000? A new fuel filter is around $25, and it's cheap insurance.
With 25,000 miles on it, this '09 GMC Sierra 2500 HD was nearing the time for a fuel filter change. We tagged along while the job was done at North County GMC in Escondido, California, to see what was involved. Service Advisor Hutch Green let us into the service bay to photograph the work. After all was said and done, we thought the job was easy enough that next time we can do it ourselves…or maybe not, since we don't have easy access to a lift.
