BD Diesel Crank Case Vent Filter Kit - BD CCV Filter Kit

Some of us will remember (or still have) engines with PCV valves. The PCV system basically took blow-by gas and oil vapors from the combustion chamber and funneled them back into the intake system, reducing both emissions and direct pollution to the roadways from droplets of oil dripping out a vent tube.   |   BD's crankcase vent filter kit had everything we needed for a professional installation, including all hardware and clamps. Most modern diesel engines still use this type of system to dispose of crank case fumes, but things have gotten a little more complicated with turbos, intercoolers, and ever-stricter emissions laws. The 7.3L and 6.0L Power Stroke engines are prime examples. The problem is, all that oil mist coming out of the valve cover needs to land somewhere, and it ends up on the inside of your intake system. Oil vapor residue reduces turbocharger and intercooler efficiency and deteriorates the silicone boots, causing them to balloon and blow off. It also increases the amount of oil found in the charge air cooler. During a recent install of a new ATS Aurora 3000 turbo on a '99 7.3L Power Stroke at Ken Imler Diesel in Sacramento, California, we took the opportunity to add BD Diesel Performance's new crank case vent filter kit for Ford Power Stroke applications. The filter catches crank case oil vapor that passes through the crank case vent and deposits it in a small container on the frame that can be drained at oil change intervals. BD Diesel Performance says installation takes just two hours. Steve Scott at Ken Imler Diesel Performance Center had previously installed several BD CCV kits, so it took his crew less than an hour. The crank case vent (CCV) filter kit for '99 1/2 to '03 7.3Ls and '03 to '07 6.0Ls lists for $335.00.
