2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Water Leak Continued -Truck Trend Garage

Q: Regarding the question about a water leak in a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe ("Who'll Stop the Rain," July/August 2013), I'm a master auto body technician at a Chevy dealership, and have run into this issue on similar trucks. I've found that water leaks behind the back glass where the caulk line at the roof joint stops and the adhesive for the glass starts. In light rain, there is very little to no wetness, but in a car wash with higher pressures, the water is forced between this joint. Hope this helps. A: That's a great piece of information, and something only a technician at a dealership specializing in a specific brand would normally be aware of. That may have been a possible cause of the previous reader's water leak. If the sunroof was confirmed to be OK, and the technicians partially dropped the headliner to water test, perhaps they did spot the entry point. But as you said, in this case, it may require a high-pressure water test at the rear body joint to duplicate the condition.   |   Truck Trend Garage High Pressure Job
