Aeroforce Dual Interceptor Gauges Installation - Mind Your Motor

aeroforce Dual Interceptor Gauges Installation digital Gauges   |   aeroforce Dual Interceptor Gauges Installation digital Gauges Factory gauges usually only show the bare minimum of information which is hardly adequate for a modified vehicle. As aftermarket products are added to your truck, the need to closely monitor your truck's vitals increases. For lifted trucks and trucks that tow, transmission fluid temperature is critical. For trucks with forced induction, boost pressure, intake air temperature, and ignition timing are important to maintaining a healthy engine. David Lamanno's '04 Silverado will soon house a potent big-cube LSX engine, and the last thing he wants is to destroy his investment, especially if a heads-up from a set of gauges will allow him to prevent mechanical failure and prolong the life of his truck. SoCal Diesel had just the right piece to house two Aeroforce gauges in a spot that was both highly visible and unused, the factory overhead console, and the Aeroforce gauges provide a plethora of information from the truck's On-Board Diagnostic II (OBD-II) port, so we wouldn't even have to install any sensors. We visited Auto Essentials in Thousand Oaks, California, where Dave left the truck in the experienced hands of shop owner Richard Chronister for a quick and easy install.

The Interceptor can display nearly 30 engine and vehicle parameters, including: RPM, MPH, intake air temp (post intercooler), ambient air temp (pre-intercooler), coolant temp, exhaust gas temperature (PCM Calculated), transmission temp, manifold vacuum/boost displayed in PSI, fuel temp, battery voltage, battery temp, injector pulse width, injector duty cycle, barometric pressure, ignition advance, fuel status (open/closed loop), calculated net horsepower, engine load, transmission slip, current transmission gear, torque converter lockup status, brake pressure, brake booster travel, steering angle, lateral G's, yaw, fuel economy (instantaneous and average), plus eleven more functions we've never even heard of and two configurable analog inputs. Each gauge can select as many of the above parameters as you'd like, and the gauge can be set to scroll through the parameters, two at a time, at programmable intervals. Each parameter can also be set to give a warning light when the gauge detects an abnormal reading. The gauges even offer a customizable start-up display that will show one of several vehicle or engine emblems. For the gauge mount, the carbon-fiber film you see applied is custom. SoCal Diesel offers black anodized, polished aluminum, and brushed aluminum finishes. We were pleased with the construction and the tilt towards the driver made for easy reading of the gauges. With the gauges set flush into the console the installation appeared custom and seamless, a great upgrade for any truck. Your Questions Answered Time Spent Working: Approximately 4 hours
