No matter if your truck's on 33s with a mild lift or it's skied on 52s, there is one common problem with a lifted truck: getting in the sucker. Once you're mobbing the road high above the roofline of the guy next to you, a warm sense of satisfaction and confidence overwhelms you - that is, until a few months down the road when your steering wheel starts to show some slop and your seat is worn out. What!? The truck is still new, so how could these things be wearing out already?
The quick answer is that it's thanks to you getting in and out of the truck. The wheel was never intended to be a handle, and what do you think your butt is doing to the seat cover when you slide out?
Shy of carrying a box or small ladder, steps are the answer to give you a leg up. It used to be all you could get were big, honkin' nerf bars. Then came the retractable small steps that we all know were a great idea. Well, welcome to the future, my grease monkey friends, in the form of the automatic-retracting full-length running board from AMP Research.
Seconds after the door is opened, these boards will provide a natural 10-to-12-inch step height. When you close the door, they retract up and under the truck, flush with the rocker panel, which keeps the step surfaces free of mud, snow, and road grime. Again, we said flush. These running boards, as big as they are when retracted, actually smooth the bottom of the truck out, giving you an almost custom look. Each Power-Step unit is designed specifically for the vehicle to ensure the best possible fit and even retains the vehicle's original ground clearance.
