As popular as the modern diesel pickup is, most owners seek out ways to customize the look of their rig—and many do so within the first few days of ownership. We felt the same way once we got our hands on the ’11 6.7L Power Stroke you’ve seen in the pages of Diesel Power recently. We began by customizing our exterior illumination in the form of adding smoked lenses to our mirrors, cab lights, and taillights. We also added a smoked third brake light to complete the uniform, black-on-black look.

Since installing our 325/55R22 Nitto Trail Grapplers, we also realized some measures needed to be taken to protect our paint from anything the mud-terrains could pick up. We wanted to shield our $45,000 investment—and the answer was a set of front and rear mudflaps that utilizes existing factory holes as mounting points. Increased dent, nick, and scuff protection coupled with a painless install experience is a win-win in our book, and now we have peace of mind running our oversized wheels and tires. With a few simple handtools and 30 minutes of our time, we added looks and functionality to our new Super Duty.

For durability, Recon’s ABS protective lenses are UV treated to combat fading from extensive exposure to sunlight.
| The smoked cab light lenses were direct replacements for the factory units and matched the black factory lens bases perfectly. A Phillips screw at the rear of the lens secures it to the base.
