Auto Insurance Claims: Laid off when returning from medical leave due to car accident, Laid off when returning from medical leave due to car accident

Question
I was in a car accident, and was off work about a year. The IME doctor released me to go back to work. When I contacted my employer, they said they did not have a position available for me. My claims rep said if this happened let her know. So I did. I have been given many little things to do and have had to send a job search to them. The job I had was full time, 40 hours a week. They have now hired a vocational specialist to help me in my search for work, who keeps giving me leads for part time jobs, and I signed a contract agreeing I would take a job if offered one. Is there any laws that say I have to take a part time job? Unfortunately, I live alone, have a car pmt and all that jazz...there is no way a part time job will pay my bills. It is bad enough I would be taking a $3/hr+ pay cut to start a new job.

Answer
Hello Angie,

Well, talk to a lawyer locally, they can help you determine if the insurance company must pay you up front for not having a job. It's worth the free consultation at least.

There is a big possibility that there is some money for you (if you can show that not being to get a car is directly related to the accident), so it is important that you talk to a lawyer soon, we recommend a lawyer below.
