Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance Scam, fender bender, night mare

Question
in November i received a call from my ins co., telling me they were calling me inref. to my claim? i said what claim? i own two cars, my white car was involved in a fender bender, on thanksgiving day, i told my insurance i was out of town visiting family that long weekend, and there are no other drivers in my house hold, now there was no police report, and the owner of the other car was not driving it was her sister, and there is very little damage done to her bumper, my car is perfectly fine, they gave my ins. com. a name of person i do not know, and how they got my ins. info i have no clue, i have been with my ins.co. since 94, and only had one accident, not my fault, and i cooperated to the fullest with my ins. co., and now i feel like i am being treated like a criminal, cause just the other day i had an investigator come to my job asking me all these personnal questions, shoulden,t they be after this woman who is trying to pull a scam, instead of making my life a living night mare???

Answer
Hi Denise,

You are correct. However, the fist part of the process in going after the other person is to exclude you from being a suspect. Once they can be sure you had nothing to do with it they can concentrate on the other person and deny the claim. Just cooperate, maintain your story and tell them not ot pay the claim under any circumstances.

I hope this helps
