Auto Insurance Claims: How long do I have to wait?, time limits on insurance company

Question
Hello,
I've been customer for more than 2 years with LGIA Company, with a full coverage, my car was vandalized a couple of months ago and I filled a  claim with Lindsey General Insurance Agency. I'm been trying to talk to the adjuster, but he never responds. I leave him messages, he never answers.  I Talked to supervisor, she didn't help. At least I want an answer to see how my case is going. What else can I do?

Answer
I thought I already answered this, but it showed up again or I didn't answer the first time, I am sorry!

First of all, in almost every state, there are regulations that dictate how long an insurance company has to get a claim settled with their own customer.  It seems like they are taking a pretty long time on your claim, but with it being vandalism, I would urge you to look at your policy and make sure you have filled out all the necessary forms and provided all the necessary information.  Vandalism is a common claim for people that are committing fraud, so adjusters normally look at them very closely and also require a lot of paperwork (proof of loss, police report, recorded statement).  After you are sure you have provided all that is necessary, write a letter.  Always correspond in writing.  It helps to send correspondences via certified mail.  If you still can't get a response, then call the department of insurance and ask about the time limits in place.  If the company has broken a rule, you should make a complaint to the department of insurance (or equivalent) and at least you'll get a response.  The only other option is to file a suit for breach of contract.

I hope this helps!
