Auto Insurance Claims: Coverage family member exclusion transfer to new car?, Excluded driver

Question
My mother had bought a new car.  The old car insurance
policy excluded my sister.  When she purchased her new car,
she asked called her insurance provider, and added her new
car to the policy. She still has her old car insured still.
My sister had gotten into an accident where she lost control
of the car and struck a tree.  The adjuster said that they
will not cover the damages because my sister was excluded
from the old car even though there were no exclusions on the
new car.  Is this possible?

Answer
Hi Luis,

When a driver is excluded, they are excluded from the policy no just a specific car. So regardless if you change cars on the policy or add an additional car to the policy, that driver is still excluded from the policy.

The only way for there to be coverage for a previously excluded driver is to actually specifically add that person back on the policy as a valid driver and pay what ever the required premium would be.

Once a driver is excluded from the policy, thay are excluded from the entire policy regardless of a change or addition of vehicles.

I hope this helps
