Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance claim, report or not report

Question
I had a minor car accident with other car. minor scratches on the bumper. Police officers came and said it was a minor accident, so they won't write an accident report for this. we exchanged both drivers' information.
My question is, Should I report this to my insurance company? What happens if I don't report it to the insurance company and the other driver does to his?

Answer
I would report it.  The stress of not knowing if it will ever show up would kill me.  Just report it.  It will help to deter potential fraud and is just the right thing to do.  Depending on who was at fault, the insurance companies should assess and handle the damages.  Trust me, even if both parties are willing to go their own way and not deal with insurance, they will in the future and these damages will still be there.  The accident will be on record period, because it happened, wouldn't you like to be the one that reports it?
