Auto Insurance Claims: medical bills, ferraro, medical bills
QuestionI was informed by the adjuster of the at fault driver that he had obtained some of my bills that were paid by my med pay I have not signed any med release is this legal in ohio?
AnswerI can't tell you about Ohio law specifically but HIPAA is a federal law that generally prohibits the release of medical records without a signed authorization.
My guess is that your records should not have been released without you consenting in writing to the release.
I would ask the adjuster what records were released and who authorized the release.
