Auto Insurance Claims: medical bills and final settlement, rule of thumb, medical bills

Question
I was in a car accident which involved approx. $5000.00 in medical bills.  Is there a rule of thumb about the amount of the final settlement in relation to the medical bills?

Answer
Hi Dale,

The settlement will be based on the type and extent of injuries more that just the cost of the medical bills. A general rule of thumb would be 2 to 5 times the medical bills.

You should visit www.collisionwizard.com . This site has a claim calculator that will help you determine the high and low value of your claim depending on the information you input.
