Auto Insurance Claims: insurance coverage, wheel test, own insurance

Question
My son is going to take his behind the wheel test May 1st. The car he is going to use does not cover uninsured drivers. How do I get insurance coverage on (for) my son who is unlicensed, but needs to be covered to take his behind the wheel test?

Answer
Hi Denise,
The insurance policy will cover your son for free while he takes his driving test.
You will need to contact the insurance company and they will prepare a special form showing that he is covered by the policy for the day of the test.
If you are borrowing a friends car for your son to use for the test, the owner(s) will need to secure such a form letter from their own insurance company.  There will also be no charge for this courtesy coverage.
Immediately after passing the test, you will need to call your company and add your son as a driver.
I hope that you find this information helpful.  Please feel free to send me any follow up questions that might arise.  Your feedback by rating my answer will be appreciated.
